After some years of productive use, even a well-maintained machine needs to be overhauled or modernized. Since quality requirements and rationalization measures are constantly increasing, it is not enough to “just” update the existing machine tool. When changing the given parameters or expanding the machine with new components, you also have to constructively reevaluate and redesign its concept. With these measures, we often achieve more efficiency than with a standard new machine. Therefore, a retrofit of your old machine is often an economic alternative to purchasing a new machine.

Heyligenstaedt Lathe

Retrofit, overhaul and modernization of a Heyligenstaedt lathe

# For this retrofit, we focused on geometrically restoring the machine according to DIN 8607 and on redesigning all main components
# We milled grooves into the tracks and inserted and completely ground 12 mm strong, hardened ridges
# We coated the counter guideways with Biplast
# We installed a direct Z axis measuring system
# We replaced all bearings, lubrication lines, ball screws, electrical wires of components such as the headstock, tailstock, supports and bezels
